Ah! Life is good. Just luxuriating poolside in a tropical setting at a four star resort while sipping on an endless supply of mai tais while munching on ceviche. All that is required is to listen to a five hour pitch. Not for time share condos. Instead this pitch is made to journalists about how and why the Electoral College can be bypassed.
This revelation about how an obviously well-funded group called the Institute for Research on Presidential Elections is providing vacations for journalists comes to us via reporter Tim Alberta of Politico Magazine. Alberta relayed the posh pitch in Is the Electoral College Doomed?

Soros money?
They didn’t seem to dislike it when Obama won it twice.
Presstitution pays.
Actually, it is no more surprising than if the headline read: “Journalists Writing About Electoral College Nullification Treated Research Group to Expensive Resort Stays”

...and Tea Party groups were sidelined by (fill-in-name).
John Kozaa California Democrat who made his fortune by inventing the scratch-off lottery ticketgot behind it, co-writing a book, Every Vote Equal, and founding the Institute for Research on Presidential Elections. This is the education arm, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit group; Koza also started a sister organization, National Popular Vote, which is registered as a 501(c)(4) to lobby legislators.
I write this every time there is a discussion of the National Popular Vote Compact.
There is no need for this trigger. If the states really believe in the merits of awarding their Electoral College votes to the national popular vote winner, then why not simply do it unilaterally now?
If it's such a good idea, let a state be a leader for the movement and just do it now without the trigger. Encourage other states to follow in your path.
If it's such a good idea, forget the trigger and just do it on your own. What are you waiting for?
All that a state legislature has to do is explain to its voters how they will not know for whom they actually voted until the end of the night, after California votes. These states, in effect, are delegating their votes to California and New York.
Now they just have to explain to their citizens why this is better than their own citizens voting for their own preferences based on their own situations existing in their own states.

For those who think it ends at ‘journalists’ being bribed by this bunch, perhaps look to your local state representatives and state senators too.
Excellent!
The game is rigged. From top to bottom.
