Having lived in Minnesota for ten years, I would have to agree with you. While the rural counties can be quite conservative, they are far outweighed by the Twin Cities, which are rabidly hard left. That even goes for the suburbs, which are dominated by a conformist mentality, left over by the need to be approved by the cool kids back in junior high. With that in mind, I find it odd that Jason Lewis won the second congressional district, which is mostly Twin Cities suburbs, and considered impolite to be a conservative. Add the fact that Jason Lewis is quite outspoken, going against the Minnesota “Nice” culture. I used to live in that district (Eagan).

Your observations ring true. My Twin Cities relatives find blunt-spoken people “rude”. I embarrass them.

Then we took our Yankee money and moved south.
