According to the complaint she told officers “it’s all my fault” and that she didn’t want her brother to get in trouble.
She asked police to book her, telling detectives:
“So, I don’t care, he raped my daughter ... she told me everything.”
Her hands also tested positive for gunshot residue, according to the complaint.
Serbu’s daughter reportedly told her mother over Memorial Day weekend in 2016 that Sierra sexually assaulted her on two separate occasions several years prior — when she was just six years old.
Police said Serbu often talked to friends and other witnesses about wanting to kill the 18-year-old.
A friend of Serbu’s urged her to bring it to the police instead of taking things into her own hands, but it appears the mother had been planning the attack for months.
She allegedly told her husband in May that she was “going to do something” and that he would have to raise her children alone, according to the Naples Daily News.
Serbu was served an arrest warrant Aug. 25 for second-degree murder.

Yes, as that McMartin case showed, I suppose you can’t just always take a kid’s word on something like this and do something as extreme as she did in response. I’m sure the cops would have gotten the punk to crack and confess, if he indeed did rape the then 6-year-old girl, and also gathered some incriminating evidence.

Is it possible to set up a “Go Fund Me” account for criminal defense? I gave the site a quick look and found nothing related to the topic. This Mom is going to need the money. Having been in a similar situation, I completely sympathize with her.
They have new guidelines about things like this after the McMartin case. They’ve learned not to lead witness, and contaminate the witness testimony with what other kids have said.
One thing they found out about the McMartin kids, is that the kids wanted to please the investigators. Sometimes they’d agree to what it seemed like the investigators wanted to hear.
This is a pretty difficult thing to handle properly.
If she had told the police, they could have interviewed other kids he came into contact with, and more than likely have found out her daughter wasn’t the only one. This would have lead to a better understand of who and what they were dealing with.
It is a tough position to be put into for parents. Sometimes parents assume the worst when a kid isn’t exactly saying what they think they are hearing. Precision of descriptions can come into play, when kids aren’t used to describing actions like this.
It gets into the level of what actually took place. Of course it’s only normal for a parent to assume the worst, and in their heads blow things out.
I’m not saying that’s what happened here, because it’s only normal for a parent to want to be super protective when it comes to things like this.
Was the kid talking petting or something else. Does the kid even remember it clearly after a few years?
It’s too easy for me to be academic about it. Not trying to sound like I don’t care. I just want to make sure the punishment really does fit the crime.
I have a very low tolerance for someone who is molesting a group of children, even one child. Hang em high.
I believe the crime was in 2016......if I read the article correctly......the victim was 6 or 7 years old.
It’s badly written, and she should only be set free if the accusation is true. The only evidence she has is an accusation from her 8 year old daughter? Seems pretty shaky and if that’s all she has for her defense, then she should ride the lightning. Premeditated murder is not a crime of passion. She planned this for over a year it looks like.
If the guy was guilty, he got what he deserved. But just one accusation is not enough for me to believe he was a child rapist. One accusation is enough evidence for some here, which is super super terrifying.
She also was ALREADY IN JAIL when issued the murder charge.
This is really unclear. It doesn’t say how many years ago, but if it was, say six years ago, the kid was 12 when he did it. Bad, but at that age they aren’t hitting on all cylinders unless they’ve had a stellar upbringing, which... ? I doubt?
If I read the article correctly, the girl told the mother in 2016 what happened to her when she was six...seven years ago...

She was already in jail when they charged her with murder for a different crime.

I don’t think so. I just confused the last names of the alleged child rapist and the girl’s mother and thought he had been recently making threats to kill the daughter, perhaps out of fear of her telling the mother or going to the police.
And if in fact HE had been making such threats it would have pretty much confirmed that he did indeed rape the then 6-year-old girl. But I was wrong about that. It was the mom who had been making threats to kill him.

“A quiet, densely wooded area off Goodlette-Frank Road bordering the Gordon River in Naples might have become the scene of a revenge killing last summer.
It was there that Xavier Sierra, 18, was lured, confronted and shot by Connie Serbu on July 7, 2016, in a plot to avenge her daughter’s rape, according to a criminal complaint filed with the Collier County Clerk of Courts this week.
Serbu, an acquaintance of Sierra’s, was already at the Naples Jail Center on suspicion of custodial interference when she was served with an arrest warrant Aug. 25 on a charge of second-degree murder.
Serbu is accused of leaving the state with her son last October while being investigated as a witness in the homicide, according to court records. She is being held without bail.
Serbu’s brother, John Vargas, 29, was also killed in the shooting.
The criminal complaint details the day the Naples Police Department responded to the 700 block of Goodlette-Frank Road to reports of shots fired.
At the end of a dirt road near the wooded area, officers found a blue four-door Hyundai and met Serbu, who appeared panicked and said two men she knew had been shot. Officers took her to the police station to calm her and get more information.

During the investigation, detectives found that Serbu sent Sierra a text message July 7, 2016, to ask for his help building a bunk bed at her house in exchange for money, the complaint states.
“Connie Serbu stated that she planned on confronting Xavier Sierra regarding the molestation of her daughter” the day she asked him to install the bunk beds, the complaint states.

After learning about the alleged assault, Serbu repeatedly talked to friends and other witnesses about wanting to kill Sierra, court records state. Serbu’s daughter asked her mother not to hurt Sierra, and a friend of Serbu’s tried to persuade her to go to police instead of taking things into her own hands, according to police.
Serbu, a mother of two, told her husband in May that he would have to prepare himself to take care of their kids on his own because “she was going to do something,” the complaint states.
Serbu originally planned to ask a friend to install the bunk beds but changed her mind when her daughter told her she had been assaulted, according to police. The complaint states that getting the teen to do the job provided Serbu “the perfect ruse to get Sierra alone.”
Serbu had her brother accompany her to pick up the teen and confront him, court documents state. Vargas, of New York, had spent a few weeks visiting Serbu and staying at her house before he died.
According to the complaint, Vargas was intellectually disabled and because he “had a mind like a child,” Serbu persuaded him to help her.
Investigators said Vargas and Serbu left her house with two guns registered to Serbu, two stun guns, a potato to use as a silencer, an ice pick, plastic gloves, bags and paper towels before picking Sierra up.
Sierra had a job interview at a spay-and-neuter clinic in Golden Gate the day he was killed. After leaving the interview, he waited for Serbu to pick him up at a Winn-Dixie on Golden Gate Parkway and take him to her house to install the bunk beds.
According to the complaint, Vargas asked Sierra about the assault while Serbu drove them out to the wooded area. When they arrived, Sierra got out of the car and tried to run away, but Vargas and Serbu chased him, according to the complaint.
Police said Sierra wrestled with Vargas for one of the guns, and Sierra ultimately was shot with both guns a total of six times. Vargas was shot once in the abdomen, according to police. The complaint doesn’t say who shot Vargas but states he was shot first.
Both guns were found at the scene. Gunshot residue testing revealed Serbu’s hands tested positive for residue, the complaint states.
Lt. Seth Finman said Tuesday the department could not comment on the case because it still was being investigated.
The woman was already in jail for a separate crime when charged with murder.
I have tons of questions.
Did investigators speak to her daughter? Have they confirmed the woman’s story? Is this just the woman saying her daughter said this? Why weren’t the police involved beforehand? So that would make the guy she killed 11 at the time of the victims story?

That’s premeditated murder. She also had her brother “Vargas, ask Sierra about the accusation.” But also said her brother Vargas was intellectually disabled and had a mind like a child. They had two guns, and her brother was also killed. This is super fishy, I’m sorry but this woman was already in jail, she had her mentally disabled brother accompany her to murder some kid that her daughter said raped her 6 years ago making the daughter 6 and the kid Sierra 11 or 12.
That is what I gather. Without more information on the murderer, and the relationship between herself, her brother, and the kid she killed. I have to assume there was more going on her then just an accusation of rape.
