Secretary-General António Guterres said Wednesday he has been trying to build “a constructive relationship” with President Donald Trump — and he hopes that will be the U.S. leader’s message when they meet during next week’s gathering of world leaders at the United Nations.

Guterres said at a news conference if that is what Trump conveys to him “that message will be well received.”

Trump wants major cuts to the U.N. budget and significant changes to the world organization.

Guterres and Trump are scheduled to speak at a meeting on reforming the United Nations sponsored by the United States on Monday, the eve of the opening of the assembly’s high-level session when the U.S. leader will address the 193-member General Assembly for the first time.

The United States is the largest contributor to the U.N. budget, reflecting its position as the world’s largest economy. It pays 25 percent of the U.N.’s regular operating budget and over 28 percent of the separate peacekeeping budget. The Trump administration is conducting a review of the U.N.’s 16 far-flung peacekeeping operations, which cost nearly $8 billion a year, and cutting their costs and making them more effective is a top priority for the current U.S. ambassador, Nikki Haley. …

As Clarence Darrow told the judge at the Scopes Monkey Trial,
“His honor is entitled to hope.”

Well that’s his wish.

My wish is that Trump is deconstructive of the U.N. in the U.S.

Tear it down. Put in a large gun mart.

The same Clarence Darrow who got Nathan Leopold and Richard Loeb off the hook for murder, yes?

The same Clarence Darrow with his lifelong service for the American Communist Litigation Union, yes?

Certainly no friend of the USA.

Dry up the UN’s US money and it goes away. When I see what we’ve dumped into this global POS, it makes me puke.

Alger Hiss’ big hope for one-world communistic government. He even made sure that the UN’s charter was of the same pattern as the 1936 USSR constitution.

Article 22 is a real doozy:
The General Assembly may establish such subsidiary organs as it deems necessary for the performance of its functions.
In other words, the General Assembly grants itself the power to indefinitely grow the size of itself via these “subsidiary organs” with no stated limit. Never mind Article 13’s clause about “encouraging the progressive development of international law and its codification”, which of course has the goal of nullifying and eliminating countries’ national sovereignty.

[[Secretary-General António Guterres said Wednesday he has been trying to build “a constructive relationship” with President Donald Trump]]

BS- what he wants is to have trump agree to all the damned leftie liberal agendas- and as soon as he does- they will turn around and attack him anyways- It’s funny how the left ALWAYS whine about trying to be bipartisan when they are out of power- but when they hold power- there is NO compromise with them at all- they want nothing to do with the right- when they are out of power- they demand that the right play ball with them- IE- hop on the liberal train

Implying Trump has no credibility?

If you have a problem with Trump, don’t piss on his daughter.

Lol.. I bet he does, now that Pelosi tells trump what to tweet and when.. amnesty is here. Trump was ready to bail out insurance companies with billions of taxpayer cash, only the freedom Caucus held the line.
This is exactly how we got the anchor baby policy.. those who do not recall history are doomed to repeat it. We are there folks. Pelosi first presidential term has begun.
