I read that you should check with annualcreditreport after the Equifax debacle...but choose only one....and then check again in 3 months...and another 3 months....

I checked mine and it seemed very clean...

but how do you PREVENT identity theft?....its better than trying to clean up afterwards...

You can freeze your account with each bureau, that will prevent any credit lines from being opened. But, you will need to unfreeze them if you want to get a new credit line, and that runs ~$30 per agency, or you can find out which agency will be consulted by the lender and unfreeze just the one.

I am considering it.
