I still love watching them take off and land. :)
My hubby and son were both USAF!

Blackbird is my fave, too! I was so upset when they mothballed it. :(

In the early 60s Daddy was working at Eglin. (He worked there for 30 years). He had an office between The King Hangar and an attached large office building.
The APs would come by his office when he was working the night shift and drink coffee with him. He would also sometimes let me spend the night with him at Eglin.
I could roam the King Hangar at will. There would always be a bunch of airplanes of all kinds there.
I had a model F-104 and in the instructions it said the wings had such sharp edges that they had to keep covers on them to avoid injury.
I felt the edge and the instructions were wrong. While thin they were not so sharp as to hurt you.

I would have been in heaven.
Once my hubby took me to the aircraft “graveyard” at Shepherd AFB....it was awesome. And he knew something about each plane, because he loved them, too. Unfortunately, he couldn’t fly because he was color blind. Biggest disappointment of his life, I believe.

I did Tech school in Sheppard. Its a training base. Maybe you’re thinking of the boneyard at Davis Monthan AFB in AZ.

Nope, it was at Sheppard. It was the base boneyard and was located behind the hospital, he thinks. There was a B 66 there and we were both excited about that. Also had a B-57 and several others. :)

Howdy, Kathy.
I hope you’ve had a little relaxation time today.
Any “50-gallon drums on toothpicks” hanging around your neighborhood these days or do they primarily show up outside your garage during winter? :-)

Hi. Glad I saw you! I’m going to get off in a few minutes. I don’t feel that great tonight. Queasy and tummy upset. Darn it!
See ya tomorrow. I’m sure some rest will go a long way. I just had some yogurt to settle the tummy.
Nite!

Howdy, PRO.
Looks like I was too late getting here to “see” ya. Roxy was MIA at suppertime and I spent a long time walking around looking for her before she finally showed up at the back porch. That darn cat!
Hope you had a good day!
