Kimmel and Colbert are old enough to know the show and the song. Such depressing music to go along with the depressing words. And all for what was oftentimes a hillarious show. As father mulcahy often declared in his mild-mannered way, “Jocularity! Jocularity!”

The song with words was never used in the TV series, although it was played in the movie. I also never heard the song played with words other than in the movie, with one exception. We visited a restaurant in Portugal, where they played the song with words. I thought that was probably because the restaurant owner didn’t know English and had no idea what the song was about.
I loved the TV series. But I do not think it is responsible for my decision to spend a career in Army Medicine.
