Senate Republicans near votes to replace Obamacare with state block grants
The Washington Times ^ | Seertember 17, 2017 | Tom Howell Jr.

Senate Republicans pushing to replace Obamacare with state block grants are making real noise before their window to act closes, insisting they are just one or two votes shy and that President Trump can nudge their last-gasp bill to victory.

“We are thinking that we can get this done by Sept. 30,” Sen. Bill Cassidy, the Louisiana Republican who co-wrote the bill with Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, said Friday.

Republican leadership seemed to greet the bill with a shrug when it was introduced last week, yet Mr. Cassidy said the idea “took off” during a Thursday luncheon that focused on health care.

The senator said his informal whip count stands at “48 or 49” Republican votes — close to the 50-vote threshold needed to pass a bill, using Vice President Mike Pence as a tie-breaker.

Isn’t this just another Federal entitlement?

There is no repeal in this replacement.

The attendants of Fedzilla will never vote to reduce Fedzilla’s power.

Once you have nationalized 1/6th of the country’s economy... the federal government is never going to just give it back. Too much power and too much money.

We need to replace the senators who refuse to repeal.

Let’s hope that Strange Luther will be elected, so this genius plan can be implemented!

Senate Republicans near votes to replace pay for Obamacare with a more complicated system of state block grants and less accountability for federal senators and representatives

Get ready to start blaming states instead of Pelosi. To be fair, they need to vote for the bill before I can see what's in it.

The litmus test is Susan Collins, RINO Trump hater from Maine.

If she votes for it, it is garbage.

If she votes against it, it is good.

Collins absolutely hates and despises President Trump. I think once the PizzaGate investigations get under way, all will know why she so hates him.

"Just repeal OC entirely....as promised."

Ah, the promises. You mean the ones Steven Bannon kept on a large White House whiteboard until he was ousted?

In any case, we all know who will be receiving the "block grants". It will not be working class whites. It will not be the working poor. It will go to the layabouts and/or the racially privileged.

It is the "R"s trying to find a way to pay the jizya tax to Schumer and his pals, before Schumer will allow any business to transpire, a jizya tax payable to Dems. That is all it is.

There is a lot more replacing that needs to happen.

Alexander, Corker, Flake, Graham, Hatch, Heller, Hoeven, Murkowsky, McCain, Rubio, Gardner, Burr, Tillis, Portman, McConnell, Thune, Cornyn, Cochran, Isackson, Blunt, Johnson, Toomey, Capito, Rounds, Fischer, Collins, Wicker, Sasse, Ernst, Young, Boozman and Shelby are all undocumented Democrats in R jerseys.

The first ten voted for Rubio’s amnesty.

Corker, Hatch, Heller and Flake MUST GO in 2018!

Oh yes, the attractive Susan Collins, who with each passing year draws ever closer to giving Helen Thomas a run for her money.

There are always strings attached when the Feds grant money to the states. The left will exploit this in the future.

I think the best gauge of it’s goodness is the fact that it is from Linda Grahamnesty.

That should speak volumes to the discerning conservative.

Incrementalism.

If you are a believer in total victory then part noe, part later, snd another part down the road won’t appeal to you

I think many Senators will vote for anything that will pass, while some Senators like McCain are grandstanders.

With State Block grants, the 35 or so states with a Republican legislature and a Republican Governor will be able to use the money as best as possible to meet the needs of the poor and working class of their state. The remaining states under shared or Democrat government will of course continue to squander the money. There’s a certain poetic justice to this.

In two years, with a bigger majority in the Senate, we’ll be able to do more on this issue and others as well. I don’t know about you, but I signed up for the duration.

No way is Collins the dumbest Senator.
Sheila Jackson-Lee (mars rover seeing flag), Hank Johnson(Guam tipping over), the list goes on.
Might be a fun thread to see who is the dumbest Senator.
There is plenty of competition.
