I think DC also has 1 party consent. But this was an open room conversation. Expectation of privacy may not apply.
Could be a rope-a-dope. And doesn’t really reveal anything except personality conflicts.
OR maybe it was lawyer ploy to see how quickly what they said would make the news?
Maybe it was all loud BS, just to see if they were being followed or watched by journalists....
