No, that’s not actually the News Madrid Fault. But it is one of the group of fault systems including the New Madrid Fault that somewhat determined the course of the Ohio and Mississippi Rivers, in that part of N. America. Basically, the Earth is still rebounding from the last period of major glaciation, and the crust is weak / fractured in that region.
