Paul Manafort Is in Legal Jeopardy. But Trump may not be
National Review ^ | Sept. 20, 2017 | Andrew McCarthy

Posted on 09/20/2017 7:37:56 AM PDT by bitt

We already knew that Paul Manafort was in a heap of trouble. It was almost two months ago — July 26, to be precise — that his Virginia residence was raided by the FBI in the predawn hours.

As I said at the time, prosecutors do not obtain warrants to toss the homes of people they regard as cooperating witnesses. When they are dealing with cooperators, prosecutors politely request that documents be produced, expecting the witness (and his lawyers) to comply. If some coercion is thought necessary, they will issue a grand-jury subpoena — an enforceable directive to produce documents, but one that still allows the witness to hand over the materials, not have them forcibly seized. The execution of a search warrant, even if it goes smoothly, is a show of force. It is intimidating.

Do you happen to know if the claim I keep seeing is true...i.e...Firtash is/was on the board of SCL who is involved with Cambridge Analytical.

Does Mueller put a gun to Manaforts head to make him say that Trump discussed working with the Russians to steal and release DNC emails? Is that where this is going? Manafort may say anything for freedom.

I just posted this to the daily Limbaugh thread.

I don't think the Mueller raid is about destroying Trump to send a message to non-club members.

I believe other Freepers are correct that Mueller is using a heavy hand because he's desperate to find anything that will ultimately justify Obama's domestic spying overreach.

They all know that Hillary Clinton was supposed to win, so their *ends justify the means* felonious abuse of power to rig the election would be covered up afterwards. She lost, however, and now their traitorous corruption of the electoral process has been discovered.

This means that Manafort (or someone) must be MADE guilty to justify the domestic spying by the Obama administration, otherwise the Democrat party will be exposed as not trustworthy with the levers of federal power in the next decade or more of elections.

Or maybe Manafort is guilty and going to be nailed for his association with high level Eastern Europe criminals, etc.

Btw, if you think Manafort couldn’t possibly be guilty of anything you should read the hacked texts of his own daughter.

National Review is a name representing a den of NeverTrumpers.

Who is Andrew McCarthy and why should anyone give a damn?

Manafort is a 30+ year close friend of the Trump family who also owns a place inside Trump Tower in Manhattan close to the family.

He is not stupid.

If the Mueller-Clinton-Obama a-holes raided his place, it’s because he told them he was not going to let them in and they followed with a sham warrant.

I doubt seriously Manafort is in any kind of trouble at all.

And if these Deep State a-holes fail to produce anything indictable from their outrageous sham raid, then I will bet Manafort’s lawyers will be making certain Obama holdovers nervous knowing that heads will roll.

He was smart enough to communicate via draft but never sent emails as per his daughter.

Does that mean he really has been working as an asset all of this time when dealing with Eastern Europe Mafia members?

...maybe Manafort is guilty and going to be nailed for his association with high level Eastern Europe criminals...

You'll have to help me out here.

Are these prior acts or are they related to election collusion? Manafort was only the campaign manager during the convention delegate period until Trump won the nomination.

What is Manafort allegedly guilty of, besides associating with criminals? I haven't been following the non-campaign-related activities of Manafort's private business dealings.

This is an incredibly complex interwoven investigation. Start with finding out if Firtash really is/was on the board of SCL as people are claiming.

Btw, IMO, and it is just an opinion, Trump properties have been used to wash Eastern European money....but that doesn’t mean Trump knew about it or colluded with it or approved of it.

Sater claims Trump knew he was a snitch when dealing with him...but Sater is a piece of work..to say the least.

What are you talking about?

Anytime you try to purchase oil on the international market, you deal with rough characters.

A Suezmax ship holds up to 3,000,000 bbl, barrels of oil. Sign a contract for it to be shipped to Houston or Rotterdam and collect fees and commissions of $5 per barrel and that is $15,000,000 to your brokerage. Do that once or twice a month and it is very profitable. In order to be in a position to do it, you must be recognized as being in high position, connected. Otherwise, you are shut out.

And the Arabs, Venezuelans, Mexicans, etc. you deal with in the process are all rough guys.

Manafort is a loyal, patriotic American who had the position to make vast amounts of money for his brokerage. Yes, he is privileged. There are thousands of such Americans. Should Creep Mueller be raiding them all?

Manafort is not the bad guy here, Mueller is. Mueller is Mr. Uranium, Deep Uranium. He sold it everywhere covertly, illegally. Investigate his ass!

LOLOL

I guess your eyes will be opened soon.

Btw, DOJ is hell bent on getting Firtash extradicted. They are never going to get Semion but they are going to get their hands on Firtash unless Lanny Davis is able to prevent it.

Firtash trying to stay alive by telling everyone he is cooperating with no one.

But what does it have to do with election collusion?

Could it be that Obama had Manafort bugged because he knew that Manafort was dealing with Trump, and so was really targeted for the purpose of *incidentally* intercepting Trump conversations?

I'd have to believe that the Clintons also were dealing with unsavory characters in their global money laundering operation, too, so I question the heavy hand being applied to Manafort.

Was Manafort really being investigated prior to the election for foreign corrupt business practices of his own making, or was he singled out because of his proximity to Trump in the hopes of spying on the Trump campaign incidentally?

“But what does it have to do with election collusion?”

You really can’t think how this would work? I guess I have just been watching money laundering and mafia investigations so long it is easy for me to see

As I said, start with looking to see if Firstash is on the board of SCL and his connection to the major players.

There are a myriad of ways...and it doesn’t require Trump knowledge

Btw, a good person to read if you really want to understand the complex nature of all of this is Renato Mariotti
