I was first sent to DC by the US Army in the fall of 1980. The building of a 2nd Potomac River bridge upstream from the American Legion bridge was a major news story. And nothing was done then. 37 years later, I’m now preparing to leave the DC area and the Montgomery County NIMBY folks are still opposing the building of a 2nd bridge which has been needed since the 1970s.

The DC metro area needs another beltway outside the current beltway, but it isn’t going to happen.
