American Football is one of those ‘traditional institutions’ that has to be destroyed.

What better way to do that than to piss off the fans (typically Patriotic).

What better way to piss off the (patriotic) fans than by embedding non-patriotic behavior into the institution.

I hate football and never watch but have been following this story.

There are a lot of posts here about the NFL making a big mistake by alienating the fans.

Have there ever been any boos or protests by people that actually attend the games?

If the typical NFL fan of today is patriotic, then the typical fan will no longer be a fan of NFL football. The non-patriotic behavior originated with instructors and administrators in women's studies, English, psychology, sociology, art, drama, communication and other departments in universities, law schools and subsequently in offices of large corporate firms.
