There are many places that players can use to express their political opinions beside the football game. Athletes have the media at their beck and call. They can call press conferences or make their comments when they are being interviewed. It is not necessary to politicize sports. It is rude to interrupt the enjoyment of football fans with a gesture that is very offensive to many people. The anthem and the American flag are symbols of the country and should not be disrespected.
