Brady on boos during anthem: I’ve got a lot of love for my teammates

Before Patriots quarterback Tom Brady led the Patriots to a comeback win over the Texans, he stood for the national anthem with one arm intertwined with wide receiver Phillip Dorsett and the other over his heart.

Brady was asked about that after the game and said his message was “there’s just a great love for my teammates.” Brady was also asked about the boos heard at Gillette Stadium as a number of his teammates took a knee during the anthem. Brady didn’t say whether he agreed with President Donald Trump’s feeling that kneeling is unacceptable and reiterated his strong feelings for his teammates when asked about those that took a knee.

“Like I said, I’ve got a lot of love for my teammates,” Brady said in comments distributed by the team. “I mean, we go through a lot together. There’s a lot of blood, sweat and tears. I don’t think it’s easy to play this sport. I mean, there’s a lot of guys that sacrifice a lot. I think you have a lot of respect for the guys who play, not only your own teammates but guys you play against. I mean, without them, it’s not a great game. So, it’s like I said. I believe in all of us coming together.”

Well before the game on Sunday, Brady posted a picture of him and running back James White on Instagram. His caption of “Strength. Passion. Love. Brotherhood. Team. Unity. Commitment. Dedication. Determination. Respect. Loyalty. Work. #nflplayer” sent a similar message to the one he stuck to after the game.

I haven’t gone to this story on Yahoo yet but I read an earlier one today on this subject. The comments were overwhelmingly in support of Trump on this issue.

The people who get upset at Trump, saying “he’s attacking their freedom of speech!” are the same people who make everyone afraid to express an opinion which is different from theirs.

Whoa, those comments. And this is Yahoo?

I'd like to hear more about this "sacrifice" Brady is bleating about. He can tell the guy who lost both legs to an IED in combat.

This was NFL weekend to honor Gold Star Families...Really wish that Brady had cared more about Gold Star Families than his thug teammates’ hypocritical outrage.

I think we *all* know what Pat Tillman would have done...the same thing that the Steeler’s former Army Ranger did earlier today.

Again, this is the problem with ending the draft. Not one of the players on either team were man enough to serve in uniform. Instead of being an obligation it is now a choice they all chose not to make.

Without the fans, you could retire, Brady. When there are enough fans that get tired of the childish behavior of the trash playing the game these days, you’ll be gone. But NFL football will never be the same after this.

Well yea we all know this. The lefties act like out of control maniacs when people DARE call them out on their BS. As if they’re the only ones allowed to speak an opinion and everyone else should not only be quiet but also have violence committed against them.

More love for his teammates than for his country.

I will remember that.

I like Brady, but isn’t he refusing to take a stand to defend the nation? I don’t seen anyone refusing to take a stand the other direction if they wnat.

Where’s the push-back? Where’s the defense of our nation?

Dang, good people go weak kneed. Why is that?

This is unacceptable.

I would like to see an NFL player protest Black Lies Matter on the field. How long do you think his freedom of speech would be protected?

So many AMERICAN’S gave all for this country, flag, and anthem.

To be disrespected like this, by a bunch of overpaid showboats , is just sickening. ...

Huh? Brady responded to this controversy in the most wishy-washy way possible - one arm intertwined with wide receiver Phillip Dorsett and the other over his heart.

You either stand at attention for the national anthem, or you don’t. You don’t kneel, you don’t intertwine arms. I lost a lot of respect for Brady on this one.
