Terre Haute?
Pin shooting is done standing in place. Typically, Pin Shoots are for major caliber handguns, though there are also occasional shotgun, rifle, and rimfire events as well. There are 5 pins placed on a table, lined up straight across, about 18” apart, and the pins are 3’ from the back of the table. The pins are 25’ from the shooter, where there’s a waist high rail or table.
(Something that just occurred to me, is that most Pin Shoots will have slightly different rules - These were the rules of the “MidWest Pin Blasters,” when we used to shoot at The Bullethole in Overland Park, KS - it’s been about 15 - 20 years since we shot together. Every Wednesday night, we’d shoot centerfire Semi-Auto, centerfire revolver - 6 pins for that event, and we allowed either a reload or spare loaded revolver, and rimfire handgun - for that event the pins were set at the back edge of the table, and the best shooters could get times in the low to mid 3 second range, and I once saw a guy score 2.9 seconds!)
It’s a timed event, where each shooter has a spotter/RSO with a switch to stop that shooter’s timer. When the buzzer goes off, the time starts, and doesn’t stop until the last of the 5 pins hits the floor. The match begins when all of the shooters on the line (depending on the width of the range - where I used to shoot, we had 3 shooters at once) begin with the handgun at “low ready” on the rail. When the buzzer goes off the timer starts and the shooters take aim and continue shooting until all 5 pins are on the ground. If a pin is hit and falls over on the table, the shooter needs to keep shooting until the pin hits the floor. We would shoot 3 tables each, and the final score would be the average time for all 3 tables.
Here’s an example of a really terrific shooter. Given the time and pin action, I believe he is shooting a rimfire pistol: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NFQAEDd_m7I
IIRC, my best time with my 1911 (with a Clark Pinblaster compensator, shooting handloads with 230gr LFN at about 750 fps) was a hair over 6 seconds. My best rimfire pistol time was about 4.5 seconds.

I detest deliberate contact. Rubbin is retarded.
