Wow, I’ll have to check it out after 2 such strong recs. I liked Heche in “Wag the Dog”. Her dad died of AIDS caused by faggotry, the family doesn’t believe he molested her. I have no trouble believing he had multiple perversions and that trauma was a likely cause of her past problems.
I watched the Law and Order Melendez Bros thing, it interested me cause I never knew a lot about the case and liked the OJ thing they did on “FX”. I was bored to death by it, other than Heather Graham, whom I didn’t recognize, looking great as a brunette.
Orignal Dynasty Actor Gordon Thomson has trashed the reboot,

Prediction, it falls well short of being “so bad it’s good” and is just plain terrible, cancelled before the season is over.
I’m shocked that they are keeping the Matthew Blaisdel character. (Who? Yeah, exactly)

They’d be better off trying this as a soft porn series on a pay (HBO, etc) channel.
If it lasts 1/2 a season, I’d be shocked.
I remember when the Menendez thing happened, so I’m not interested in reliving it. When the lawyer had the boys dress up like they sang lead in a church choir, it kicked off a generation of defendants invoking the they were too angelic that they dindu nuffin.
As for Gordon Thomson, I would trust his judgment on the Dynasty reboot. I won’t be watching that turdfest.
If the show was on FX/X, I’d check out an episode or two. Regular TV? Pass.

Speaking about remakes that no one wants, I heard that there’s a remake of the John Candy/Dan Ackroyd crapfest “The Great Outdoors” in the works. But with a twist: It has a dindu cast including Kevin Hart.
Gag.
I discovered the FE channel on Direct TV tonight. Roy Rogers. The Lone Ranger, Perry Mason, Hart to Hart, Matlock and more.
I thought it was Uncle Buck they’re remaking as a series. “The Great Outdoors” was subpar. Speaking of Dan Aykroyd, I always wondered how much different some ‘80s movies would’ve been had John Belushi not OD’d. “Ghostbusters”, “Spies Like Us”, an earlier sequel to “The Blues Brothers” and perhaps even “Animal House” with a “Senator Blutarsky” movie. :-\

Good point on the Belushi angle. We’ll never really know, but can assume better, funnier movies would have resulted.
Then again, if it had been anything like “Neighbors”, which was a little too weird and half-baked, they could’ve been lousy. Losing the screenwriter Doug Kenney was equally bad, killing himself after “Caddyshack” came out, believing the bad reviews from the idiots.

Today? That would be better than 95-98% of what’s on. Sad.
Your remake idea: I’d watch the first episode, I’d laugh (for all the “wrong” reasons).
I watched the pilot, it was indeed pretty bad. The quality of the writing is poor.
Gillies wore a black and white dress similar to one that Pamela Sue Martin wore in the original pilot. She (Gillies) didn’t look nearly as good. She has a watchable quality though despite the lame writing. The Latina playing “Cristal”, not so much. They had a very lame catfight.
They totally miscast the Black guys, the ugly lipped guy playing Jeff Colby (now a self made tech billionaire who betrayed Blake in an intellectual property dispute or something) should have played the skeevy limo driver, and vice versa.
The old dude from the OC so should have been Blake. I like Show but he brings every bit as much of gravitas to the role as he brought to “Melrose Place”. Instead he’s a butler and they call him by his last name which.....no way.
On the plus side though it seems they killed Matthew Blaisdel at the end.
I’d have advised them to bring in Alexis early, perhaps they will, I have a feeling a trial for the murder of Blaisdel will take the place of Blake’s trial for killing Stephen’s boyfriend storyline in the original.
So Gordon Thomson was dead on the money. Were the Shapiros that desperate for money ?
