Trump ‘not happy’ with Tom Price’s use of private jets

President Trump said he’s “not happy” with Tom Price, the head of the Department of Health and Human Services, over his use of costly private charter flights and wouldn’t rule out firing him.

Asked by reporters during an impromptu news conference Wednesday on the South Lawn whether he would fire Price, Trump replied, “We’ll see.”

“I was looking into it and I will look into it. I will tell you personally, I’m not happy about it,” Trump said as he prepared to leave the White House to tout his tax reform plan in Indiana. “I am not happy about it. I’m going to look at it. I let him know it.”

These political grifters just cannot help themselves. They are like swine at the public trough.

$ 400,000 on private jets since May for an HHS secretary to do such vital tasks such as traveling to have lunch with his son? Make him pay back every dime to the Treasury then fire him today. It won’t interfere with his “essential” help in getting Obamacare repealed and replaced.

I have always admired Tom Price when he was a GA congressman. I am actually shocked that he has done this.

I didn’t like Pelosi traveling to California weekly on “her” own 777 at taxpayers’ expense. But at least she was Speaker of the House (of course, so was Dennis Hastert) and thereby third in line for the presidency (shudder). This guy Price at HHS is a nobody, he has no national security job, and stands in about the same order in line for presidential succession as I do so he doesn’t need a private jet to himself. Fire him today, Mr. President, and send a direct message to the other grifters that have high places in your Administration.

If true Price should be fired and Trump is 100% correct in calling him out. BTW...where were these Politico stories during the 8 years of Obama?

Whatever you do, wherever you work...

You don't embarrass the boss.

“Once the cat got out of the bag, Price said he would stop taking private jets until the HHS inspector general finishes a review of his pricey trips on the taxpayers’ dime.”

What the hell are these Cabinet people thinking? They’re making Democrats look decent. What a sense of entitlement.

I inadvertently embarrassed my boss’s boss once. I was a problem solver for a company dealing with customer issues. A huge customer had a major problem. My boss and his boss were absolutely convinced it was a defect on our part.

I wasn’t and delved pretty deeply into the problem at the customers plants.

In the end, I was correct and save a 8 figure a year customer at a net cost of $0.00. Two months later there was a reorganization and I was part of it. 18 years down the tube.

The major save using out of the box thinking was a great resume enhancer though and went for toward getting me my current job.

a great resume enhancer though

I like to get applicants to present real world examples of how they engaged in issues. I especially enjoy listening to combat vets who have many of those types of experiences to share. Kudos on the accomplishment and surviving the reorg shuffle.

so he doesn’t need a private jet to himself.

I think Price is expendable at this point. There were big plans for him and what he was going to do as Sec to modify obamacare regs under his authority, then to further express input on whatever legislation got signed. He is out the door, as far as I am concerned.

From another article, it looks like a House committee is getting ready to expose a lot of this crap, and this guy is right in the mix. Surprised Trump didn’t know.

I agree with you; at least Tillerson at State has trimmed back some excessive offices and jobs; Zilke at Interior has cut down on the national monuments named by Obama; Pruitt at EPA has drawn back on employment and needless enviro regs; Ross at Commerce is energetically going after unfair trade practices; and Mattis at DoD has at least cut the restrictions on what troops in the field need approval for. Price? I can’t think of a thing he’s accomplished at HHS, other than to travel fancy at taxpayer expense. He needs to go, resign tonight, for a lot of reasons.
