I’m a Dallas boy and was once a Cowboy fan, following the team religiously from the 60s into the 80s. These were the best Cowboy years with Don Meredith, Craig Morton, Roger Staubach and Danny White who probably stayed too long; not leaving out the Doomsday Defense with Jethro Pugh and the legendary Bob Lilly. It was pretty much over when Murchison cashed out, and I gave up after Tom Landry was fired in such a mean-spirited no-class way.
I don’t believe Jerry Jones has the courage to go after Goodell, and in any case he’s outnumbered. But if a miracle happens, who’s a credible replacement? My dream choice would be no-BS Mike Ditka, assuming he’d take the job.
If anyone on this thread hasn’t read it already, let me recommend the David Maraniss book: When Pride Still Mattered: A Life of Vince Lombardi.
I need to re-read that book!
Jerry Jones ha always reminded me of Big Ed Bookman from the movie “Semi-Tough”. His stunt from the other day proved to me he is Big Ed!
Mike Ditka is not not a qualified replacement. Imho.
