If we stumble headlong into a war with North Korea, it will be the worst group of decisions sine August 1914.
Actually I agree.
I think what President Trump is doing is reminding the world it is a dangerous game NK (and China) are playing and the US is no longer going to be paying blackmail.
The world view President Trump as being unpredictable, and in this case it is a good thing.
His words are undiplomatic because he wants to make it clear (and that there is no wiggle room for mis-interpretation).
Attack the United States you die. Hard to misinterpret that.
As much as I do not want a war with NK, if they launch nuclear weapons at the US President Trump will have to respond. So the ball is in NK (and China’s court)

Spot on. It's shame that so many people are viewing these unfolding of events only on the surface and aren't taking the time to think of the underlying strategy which underlies Trump's behavior. All administrations have done for decades is treat the NORKs like spoiled children, giving them things in vain attempts to placate them (as well as kick the can down the road for the next administration to handle). Well, here we are. With Trump, it's "no mas".
Trump is telling the world that America is no longer going to be the NORK's patsy; Rocket Man can threaten and bluster all he wants; the ChiComms can pretend to be unpurposed bystandards; and the Russians can blithly look on. He and Mattis are making it crystal clear that America and its allies WILL be defended: this is part and parcel of the strategy. Meanwhile, all we hear from critics are things like "If we stumble headlong into a war with North Korea, it will be the worst group of decisions since August 1914", as if Trump is unaware of those consequences.
Will we go as far as the Trump critics fear? Nobody wants that, including Trump (and anyone who thinks the President isn't aware of that risk is a fool).
Maybe it is positive that the US has announced a laser test where 5 drones were taken out by an airborne laser (on a drone I believe).
Airborne lasers could be a game changer.
NK has gone from talking about testing H-bomb in Pacific Ocean to we will shoot down US Bombers (my opinion, fat chance of that).
Hopefully, NK is starting to back down...
