From last week's 2017 Season Opener -

A beautiful orchestral rendition of our National Anthem by the NY Phil under the direction of new Music Director Jaap Van Zweden. Everyone including the orchestra stands up to play.

Following that is Mahler's 5th Symphony.

Sorry I missed the live performance.

Good rendition. They do have a full orchestra. The Star Spangled Banner has four stanzas -- not one!

The Metropolitan opera open last Monday with the national anthem. No one took a knee. The audience saying wild and vigorously. It was beautiful.

I think there is a typo or two there. The audience sang enthusiastically.

I noticed that there was an American Flag on the stage. Maybe this is also a regular opening night occurrence but I do not recall seeing it placed there for the NY Philharmonic concerts I have attended which probably is over 100 by now.

IMHO the best rendition of our National Anthem is an arrangement by Felix Vinatieri, band master to Custer's 7th Calvary. This orchestral arrangement is simple and dignified. Available at this link

Thank you. Can anyone explain to me how after nearly a decade of attending Tea Party and other conservative events where this song is played ad infinitum, it still brings tears to my eyes?
