Maybe a suspect but often just someone they’d like to speak with.

One step below an actual accusation. Minimally it could be that she might have helpful information.

No one wants to be a Person of Interest.

It means, "Yesterday you weren't a person of interest but since then we've learned you were wired $100,000 by our suspect. This makes you very interesting."

One of those made up terms which means nothing, really. I doubt that she will be charged criminally, unless it can be proved that she had knowledge of his murder plans. She will almost certainly be targeted by the barrage of civil suits which are upcoming.

Not quite a suspect....but she's not free and clear at this point.

The Sheriff was asked if he thought they would find a motive.

He said...absolutely.

My gut says they know a lot more than we do. They have confiscated some electronics from the house...at least.

This guy is NOT a loner. Looking for connections. My gut still says "Fast & Furious" and the weapons are not just tools but a big clue. I wondered if maybe he lost a bud to a Fast & Furious weapon. Was this a kind of revenge?

Wonder if the shooter had a storage locker somewhere.

It’s not politically correct as much as it’s a legal difference or one term having a legal connotation and one does not.
But in reality most POI become suspects, but not always. It just means his gf is someone the need to speak with and get information.

To be interviewed, not yet interrogated.

Person of Interest

"Person of interest" is a term used by U.S. law enforcement when identifying someone involved in a criminal investigation who has not been arrested or formally accused of a crime. It has no legal meaning, but refers to someone in whom the police are "interested," either because the person is cooperating with the investigation, may have information that would assist the investigation, or possesses certain characteristics that merit further attention.

Standard phrase for anyone the authorities want to talk to since they have some knowledge that's useful in an investigation.
