Some of the Austin Police Department's Ford Explorer SUVs are going back into service.

APD took almost 400 of the patrol vehicles out of service due to carbon monoxide leaks. They say detectors inside the explorers went off 70 times. Several officers were sickened. In two months, 10 vehicles have been repaired. APD says it ran its own tests on the repaired vehicles, and they are now being transitioned back into service.

Austin PD had to take 400 new vehicles out of service back in July, though the problem had already been months old, because officers were getting sick and hospitalized from carbon monoxide poisoning. It has been months and months and Ford is just now admitting something is wrong and finally fixing the vehicles.

Fords?

I've owned quite a few, in fact more Fords than all other makes, combined.

Then, it occurred to me that every time I buy a UAW-built car, I'm contributing to the Dem party.

I now own a superb Honda (built in USA by skilled, non-UAW hands).

I was hoping for a good car; it happens to be the finest car I've ever owned.

Hopefully I did not take the thread too far sideways.

It was my understanding that the aftermarket mods created this problem.

It was not a Ford caused problem. It was poorly sealed openings due to after sale equipment installation.
