The FBI with J. Edgar Hoover was not a beacon of trust.

FBI covering up TWA800 because BJ Clinton ordered it to be “not a terrorist incident” didn't provide trust in the FBI.

Then Scooter Libby getting convicted of lying to an FBI agent in a the Valerie Plame matter when the prosecutor knew full well who had been the person (Armitige) to leak her name.

All of the trust in the FBI seems to be based on the Efrem Zimbalist Jr. TV series, not in reality.

The FBI’s problems began far early than Comey, he just smashed whatever illusion of trust there was into the ground and stomped on it.
