A million conspiracy theories out there. From being an ISIS operative, to a Never Trumper, a democrat, a republican, and everything in-between.
Sometimes the most obvious theory might just fit. The man was a mental case. Too much mental angush and pain caused this.

And what caused the mental anguish and pain that had him shouting in his sleep?
Just look at his face and how it changed over a rather short time from a sort of average guy to a saggy baggy bleary-eyed grey-faced basket case. I’m betting drugs (legal and/or illegal) and far too much alcohol. Addiction is a very harsh mistress. It affects your mind, your health, your body and mood. And ends up making. you crazy.
But why this particular kind of mass-murderer crazy? Did he have some handler pushing relentlessly? How exactly does ISIS get someone like this turned around?
A thread yesterday quoted the Daily Mail story about giving tranquilizers to suicide bombers.
I think this scenario is on the table, but not provable at this point.
