The KAPLAN MT Modern Medium Weight Tank, first tank-class vehicle exported by Turkey's defense industry, was presented to the public Thursday by the Indonesian Army in Cilegon during an official parade on National Armed Forces Day.
The parade in the coastal West Java city included nearly 6,000 soldiers and Indonesia's most modern imported weaponry including warships, helicopters, submarines and the KAPLAN MT tank.
Pindad Chairman Abraham Mose told Anadolu Agency he is pleased by the completion of the tank project.
"This project is the proof that we can produce high technology defense vehicles with our own efforts without being dependent on other countries," Mose said.
The first prototype KAPLAN MT, designed and developed in Turkey by leading Indonesian armored vehicle manufacturer PT Pindad and FNSS Defense Systems, was exported to Indonesia in September.
KAPLAN MT was developed to meet the Indonesian armed forces' demands for a modern, medium-weight tank. Pindad aims to produce 20 tanks by the end of 2018.

What a piece of junk.
This tank is a real piece of junk.
You get on the phone and tell them we want the Ted Danson Tank.
Where are we? Latham, Massachusetts?
Ok. Assuming this is real, which I don’t even know if I should take it seriously, even if it is.
That is the perfect tank for a nation of a bunch of Islands. I guess they could have a tank war with Malaysia or Brunei. That would be pretty awesome.
Pretty sure that thing was a dollar and required full assembly, when I ordered it.
3rd world roads are narrow. Our own military vehicles should reflect that. Sadly they are fighting the last war and practicing on American bases in the US.
Chunkie Junkie
Put a rubber liner in it, and it could be an oil tanker.
Every loves Kramer’s bladder system.
From Kramerica Industries!!

It’s going to be placed in front of the palace to put down the revolution.
Did the muzzie Turks not know they were giving their pride & joy vehicle a Jewish name?
It is to laugh.....
Looks like a shaped charge catcher.
Gonna be used against the kurds?
Kaplan is an Ashkenazi name from Frankish, meaning Chaplain or Polish meaning priest. It’s pretty much a straight translation from Cohen. It it also a Turkish name and word meaning tiger.
Yeah, I’ll say. It looks to have a narrow track base and a high profile.
I thought that Kaplan was a Turkish word that meant ‘wolf’.
Maybe so, but where is Turkish spoken outside of Turkiye?
Wherever he is, Kemal Ataturk must be having a good laugh.
