My Lord

Yes, it is horrible; last I heard, zero containment.

Wondering why this thread is not in breaking news.

Here's the picture again that you commented on Kaiser Hospital, Santa Rosa.

If you have ever lost everything you own in the blink of an eye you would not say that.

I have lost everything twice.
Once by fire. I was left with only the clothes on my back.

The second time was by intense downdrafts.
I got out wearing only a pair of boxers. Lost my vehicle as a tree fell across it. I had to limp the mile to my nearest neighbor wearing my trusty BVD’s and a smile.

Both times it was the love and prayers of others that helped the most.

This was your opportunity to be kind, loving and generous.
You blew it.

Prayers for all those in Napa and Sonoma Valley.

I have a good friend who lives in the city of Napa. So far, they’re safe... but, very worried about the Atlas fire.

We have visited them a few times in the past few years. (They’re our new BEST friends! :-) ) We’ve visited MANY wineries in those areas. I hate to think what they might look like now.

My bet is terror related.

Some earlier reports stated that some these fires started at approx the same time. That tells me one person setting incendiary devices with timers, or multiple people doing this.

Ahhh, has The Love Gov. Signed the Santuary State bill yet?

How's this going to challenge the Federal Government refusing federal funds for all Santuary cities/ States?

Just asking and Praying for the people being effected.

No, I had to sell the place due to health issues and not being able to work for two years. :(

I rent a place now from a great family. They even reduced the rent when my wife passed away.
Probably a good thing. Because my mom said that whenever I own a place bad fortune is close behind.
I just take it as it comes and thank the Lord I have what I do.
He knows best.

Typical trick by the news channels. Click on "Watch Live" and to view you have to "agree to set your home, new tab page and your default search to mynewswire.co, while also accepting and agreeing to abide by the End User License Agreement and Privacy Policy."

More ads, more cookies and you get to watch what they want you to watch. No thanks.

For whatever reason, I did not have to do any of that stuff.

Can’t focus on whats happening in Santa Rosa right now as we are currently under mandatory evac as of 2:30 am. I am out of town working and can not leave. Wife has everything packed and ready to leave...#La Porte Fire, Butte COunty which is also the “Cascade Fire in Yuba COunty. These two fires are rather merged at some points. Total of perhaps 8K acres at last report. Then there is the Cherokee Fire also in Butte County.

We can’t get airplan assets as they are tasked elsewhere. HOw did all these fires start. More in likely arcing power lines due to high winds would be my guess. Very windy yesterday, unusual. Now I am hearing reports of possible looters in the Cherokee fire area via scanner. Jeez, this is why wife is staying until the lsat mknute. She has no internet, smart phone and cell phone almost useless...depending upon me to monitor the situation and give her updates. Luckily the job I am doing allows me to do just that and my job at the same time. I won’t explain what I am doing, but I am some four-five hours away.

More power lines down...jeez. So I hope Stryker (?) has a little bit of empathy for us folks here in California...Its not always about politics. Even if someone is here illegally, or of a different lifestyle or political persuasion, they too deserve to get rescued. We can sort out the details later if its neccessary.

Needless to say..no sleep last nght for wife and I as she loaded stuff and I tried to find what little info was available. The #LaPorteFire is on a low priority it seems as all assests have been delated elsewhere earlier.

I was wondering if these fires were wind related. So you are saying it was windy in those areas yesterday.....sigh. No doubt wind related then....

.PREV DISCUSSION... /ISSUED 0121 AM CDT Mon Oct 09 2017/

...Synopsis...
An upper trough over the Four Corners region will pivot eastward
across the southern Rockies today and the central and southern
Plains tonight. Across much of the Pacific coast, deep-layer
northerly flow will gradually become westerly as an upper ridge
deamplifies ahead of the next upper trough off the Pacific Northwest
coast by the end of the period. At the surface, strong high pressure
over the Great Basin will result in a tight gradient across CA and
strong offshore winds are expected across southern CA. Additional
strong offshore winds will continue across portions of the Bay Area
and into the central valley/west slopes of the Sierras through at
least midday.

...Portions of Northern California...

Strong north-northeasterly winds are ongoing early this morning in
the higher elevations near the Bay Area and the adjacent Sacramento
Valley and western slopes of the Sierra. Observations as of 06z
showed winds around 10-20 mph with gusts to 40 mph and RH values in
the 12-25 percent range. As a result, elevated to locally critical
fire weather conditions are expected. These conditions will continue
into early afternoon before wind speed begin to weaken. However, RH
values will remain low until later tonight.

...Portions of Southern California...

Strong offshore/Santa Ana winds are expected for much of the Day 1
period as a favorable pressure gradient remains in place into
Tuesday morning, and widespread critical fire weather conditions are
expected.

Wind speeds will increase this morning with 25-40 mph sustained,
gusting to 70 mph expected in the Ventura and L.A. County mountains
and valleys. Toward the L.A. basin/San Gabriel Valley wind speeds
will be a touch lower at 20-35 mph with gusts to 60 mph possible. In
addition to strong, potentially damaging winds, RH values will be
very low from the single digits to 15 percent. Area fuels are
critically dry and fires will spread quickly should ignitions occur.

Further south, toward Orange County and the Inland Empire and the
San Diego County mountains, wind speeds will still be strong, but
not as strong as further north. Expect sustained speeds of 20-30 mph
with gusts to 45 mph to be common in these areas. RH values will
fall into the single digits to 15 percent. These conditions will
persist into the nighttime hours and early Tuesday morning.
