RUSH: Jerry Jones, the owner of the Dallas Cowboys, said that any player who disrespects the flag will not play for the Dallas Cowboys. Snerdley, youre a Cowboys fan. You agree with that? You do? Steve Ross, who owns the Miami Dolphins, said if you come out, you are standing. Nobody is kneeling. Three players stayed in the locker room during the National Football League.
Now, why would Jerry Jones, the owner of the Dallas Cowboys, say that any player who disrespects the flag will not play for the Cowboys? I have a theory. I think Jerry Jones wants to save his business. You know, while nobodys looking, the NFL is in a world of hurt. They are no longer, according to polling data, the countrys national pastime. They are no longer the countrys most favorite sport. Theyre not even in second place.
This has been a monumental decline, and it began before the current player protest began. It began with the sports Drive-Bys focusing on concussions and making a movie about it and changing the way people watch the game. People watch the NFL now almost in fear that somebodys gonna die, get killed. Somebodys gonna get so severely maimed. They watch this and theyre nervous watching the game and some people are thinking, you know, maybe they shouldnt. Now you add these protests of the country on top of it, and its more than the NFL can withstand.
Now, the players union has been found to have been donating to liberal causes, and liberal activist groups have been found to be supporting the players association, George Soros and others. Unbeknownst to anybody, the players union has been supporting big-time leftist causes. Thats now coming out. Thats not gonna fly, because thats not what people think and want when it comes to professional sports. And players and players union officials are now saying, Were not protesting the flag. Were not protesting the country.
Yes, you are. I dont care what you think youre doing. Then what are you doing? How many of you players know exactly why youre kneeling anyway? Is it because you want to remain loyal to Kaepernick who you thinks being sandbagged here by the league? Well, if youre in unison with Kaepernick, you gotta go back and listen to what Kaepernick said was the reason hes doing all this. And hes doing it precisely because of the inequality and the bias and the discrimination in this country and the fact that the cops kill people of color and get away with it.
If you are in solidarity with Kaepernick, then thats whats youre doing. You cant say youre not protesting the flag when you take a knee during the anthem. You cant say youre not protesting the anthem. Thats exactly what youre seen as doing. Why else do it?
But what youre really doing, what these players are really doing is attacking the very business that has not mistreated them, the very business that has made them wealthy and gives them opportunity like they would not have anywhere else, and they are summarily attacking and damaging that business. And Jerry Jones isnt gonna put up with it. Hes going to do what he can to save his business.
Now, a lot of these players are mad at Trump. They think Trump has attacked them, they think Trumps attacked their rights. But thats not what is going on. Donald Trump is not the problem. Donald Trump actually was at the head of the line trying to warn the NFL that its business is in trouble if they dont get their arms around this and stop it.
Screw the NFL!!
I think his business is already gone. He just doesn’t know it yet.
That kneeling stunt he pulled a couple weeks ago mightve been the worst business decision hes ever made.
Too late. All this will achieve is to piss off the other side as well. The time to act was last year. When they failed to act then, everything following was predictable. The nfl brand may survive, but it will never recover.
X2 on your #2 Post! And I’ve watched football since Jim Brown/Frank Gifford/Y.A. Tittle ruled the air waves! The hell with these ungrateful morons today. Let them play for the Botswanna Bears.
F Jones....let the traitor rot
Now, for a vintage weather report from the time when Jerry Jones was actually probably a decent American. Probably. Maybe. Who knows.
Put the crack pipe down, Rush...
Agreed. What an idiot. He was afraid of his black players calling him a cracka’ so he went along with it. You could see it in his face he didnt want to do it and even the white coaches hated doing it. Easy to read body language..
he knelt in support of “solidarity”. That means solidarity with BLM, with the flag protesters, with he cop killers and to flip the finger to Trump.
Some mistakes you only get to make once. Soldier selling secrets to the enemy, politician or cop caught taking a bribe, cook spitting in the food, catching your spouse screwing the neighbor.
No apology and acting right afterwards can fix it. At best its a long brutal road, and you’ll never be fully trusted again.
Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. No PR firm can fix this.
The boycott started long before DJT made his tweet. Kraft said, paraphrasing, “sports unites, politics divides.” Inexplicably, he went on to support his players injecting politics into sports. ESPN does the same thing.
I’ll go back to watching some NFL if and only if the league or all of the owners make a rule to be respectful and enforce it. There will probably have to be some firings.
Like Bobby sang,
But something is happening and you don’t know what it is
Do you, Mr. Jones?
Ex fan to Jerry: no sale.
agree
I think it will be a very healthy thing for America to get its priorities in order once again.
Football used to be a leisure time diversion, not an all-consuming profit industry. It would be good for it to die, to be replaced by real Americans who have the correct perspective.
Thanks on “sargon!”
NFL players need to get control of their union and first thing they need to do is fire D Smith, an obama lackey.
The thing they should fear is what actually happened to me. I was switching channels and came upon the game. I tried to watch a few minutes but switched it off ...disgusted.
Its like telling someone “don’t think about elephants” and suddenly its all you can think of.
They have tried so much to get me to think about breast cancer, about domestic violence, about police brutality, about BLM and their protests, that now I don’t see football anymore. I just see a bunch of unpleasant crap.
It isn’t an escape anymore like in the 70s.
In addition to me not wanting to watch as an active political concept, I have really actually lost interest in them. That’s much worse for them than a boycott.
