CHICAGO A 60-year-old Illinois man who says he's a die-hard Chicago Cubs fan is now imploring the team and Major League Baseball to immediately install more nets protecting fans in crowds after he was hit in the face by a ball in August, causing him to immediately go blind in one eye. (snip) "I had no idea that you were subjected to such missiles.... said Roos, whose eye was heavily bandaged. "You could be there with a mitt and you wouldn't have been able to react in time."..

No sympathy. This is Darwin hard at work.
The balls seem to be magically directed towards those who are not paying attention to the field!

Kids texting in the hundred dollar seats. Dad should take away phone
In his TV interview, Dad says his boy wanted to send a picture of them together at the game. He borrowed Dad’s phone for a minute to take the pic and text it to Mom.
I can identify with those remarks.
I hate seeing people get injured, but almost none of the parks protect the crowd much beyond home plate.
If you go with someone, either you or that person is turned toward home plate.
You may have your side or back to the plate momentarily, but the other person looking at you will have their front turn toward the place.
This person generally sees a ball coming, and warns you.
When I’m there, I’m dying to get a ball hit toward me.
I have not been lucky in that respect.
Drat! LOL
Gross. Got any pics of Bill Murray?
Gosh that was a great flick of the sort impossible to produce today.

New nicknames: "Jay Lose Eye" "Jay Loose Eye"
Obviously the guy aint a true fan. Baseball folks have known this for more than a century
My daughter played fast pitch softball....the hits to the pitchers face could be gruesome. Gotta stay alert
If he's been a Cubs fan for 50 years, he had a better chance of getting hit by a foul than a homer for 49 of them.
The injured party was unable to recover damages because he assumed the risk of being hit by an errant ball when he entered the stadium. Basically, a reasonable person knows going in there that it's a possibility.
Ewww, that’s disgusting. I feel violated ... so, are you hawt?
When you’re at the game, you have to wait for each pitch and see where it goes. That includes players as well as fans.
And women on cell phones.
