The further neutering of boys. Wrong, damaging, evil.
Any parent that wants their boy to become an authentic man will have absolutely zero to do with the BSA. Ever.
My boy is involved in a Scout troop that is quite masculine, in many ways. They are teaching them to be self-sufficient, a productive member of society, and give back to the community. The latest Eagle event was a perfect example. The young man insisted on it being held on 9/11, as he wanted to honor the fallen and the first responders and the military. They showed a video where he was, as a toddler, literally taking his first steps as the news broadcast of the attacks was playing the background. It was very moving. My son is in a great group with many positive, manly role models. As I have come to know better the dads - and moms - of this group, I have a hard time seeing how they will allow these efforts to be diminished or distorted in any way. Conservatism runs strong with this group. Let’s hope it stays that way, with this new development.
