Sure sounds like it. I think one or more of his supplies of income have been cut off. Now he is looking for a new source of revenue such as kidnapping. IMHO he was getting backdoor money from Obama to keep quiet.
Sounds like a reasoned move to me.
I’ll bet North Korea is much more active in that area than China lets on too.
I’m not convinced China is all that thrilled over it either.
Maybe China just doesn’t want them there, because they are in a position to potentially fund/facilitate North Korean defectors. Or, they don’t want them there to observe/report a refugee crisis, should that occur. I don’t think China gives a rat’s arse what might happen to them.
In the last several years, I have been researching the persecution of Christians worldwide.
One of the more astounding tales is that Christians are SO oppressed in in North Korea, that they consider The Peoples’ Republic of China a Promised Land-like Safe haven. The instances of Christians fleeing to China became such a drain on North Korea that the last Kim had the name of a North Korean Border Town changed to “Beijing, China” on all the maps. It even shows up that way on Google Earth and other satellite maps. (I’ve seen it!)
So these poor, desperate people struggle to reach Beijing, China, and are promptly arrested and sent to prison camps.
And the REAL Beijing China doesn’t treat Christians a whole lot better.
Things must be pretty bad to make the PRC the “Promised Land”.
