In a recent survey of exclusively for GMX, Sebastian Kurz and his center-right Austrian People's Party and Heinz-Christian Strache and his populist-right Austrian Freedom Party are found to be in a tight race for first.

This is a shock poll. The headline is misleading. The first sentence spotlights the real news.
The center-right Austrian People's Party had been clearly in first place, with the center-place Social Democrats and the populist-right Austrian Freedom Party vying for second place.
In the past week, the Freedom Party appeared to overtake the Social Democrats for second place. (The semi-official explanation for this was because the Social Democrats were dealing with a party scandal.)
Now, with this poll, it appears the Freedom Party has caught up to, and maybe even overtaken the Peoples Party for first place. The Freedom Party actually has a statistically insignificant 2 point lead in this poll.
