Growing up in Canada my family stood for the national anthem at the start of Hockey Night in Canada.
I live in Maine.
There are a lot of flag waving people here.

A couple of weeks ago I was at a gun show in Sandy, UT. A woman comes on the loud speaker saying the the Presentation of the Colors was about to take place, courtesy of the Boy Scouts.
Everyone stood stock still, hand over heart as the kids went through the Presentation. You could hear a pin drop. The Pledge of Allegiance was repeated at the close.
Felt to to see the widespread patriotic feeling - a welcome break from this NFL crap.
