Colin Cancer opted to become a free agent. Are there guarantees that come with that? He took a chance on his highly over-rated self image and lost the bet....why? He is not a good player.

Yes, he chose to be a free agent. He had an option to play and be paid by the San Francisco franchise and he chose to walk.

So, if he wins, it means that an athlete, even though he has an option to play and be paid, can opt out and if he doesn't get more money, recover damages.

This doesn't make sense.
