The state has no long-term solution for the homelessness issue.

Why don't you re-evaluate building codes, reform property taxes, get rid of Section 8, and stop treating landlords like evil bastards who should allow anyone and everyone to stay in their units at reduced or free rents.

You got developers chomping at the bit who could easily build micro-apartment towers for a reasonable price per month. And the units don't have to be 1,000 sq ft luxury digs; they can be motel-sized or even sleeping rooms that's still better than sleeping under an overpass.

But the Left won't do it because of all the rules and regulations landlords are forced to comply by.

No, we used to have that, that is “the projects” and they were ungovernable.

So they all got torn down.
