I hope MANY donors demand their money back.

Saint Jeffy could pull a Kankles move and say, “I’m sorry, I can’t return the money, the money has been spent.........on starving and sick children around the world.”

The elder Goldwater wasn’t very conservative. From Wiki:

“After his retirement in 1987, Goldwater described the Arizona Governor Evan Mecham as “hardheaded” and called on him to resign, and two years later stated that the Republican party had been taken over by a “bunch of kooks”.”

Goldwater also had harsh words for his one-time political protegé, President Reagan, particularly after the Iran–Contra Affair became public in 1986. Journalist Robert MacNeil, a friend of Goldwater’s from the 1964 Presidential campaign, recalled interviewing him in his office shortly afterward. “He was sitting in his office with his hands on his cane... and he said to me, ‘Well, aren’t you going to ask me about the Iran arms sales?’ It had just been announced that the Reagan administration had sold arms to Iran. And I said, ‘Well, if I asked you, what would you say?’ He said, ‘I’d say it’s the god-damned stupidest foreign policy blunder this country’s ever made!’”,[95] though aside from the Iran–Contra scandal, Goldwater thought nonetheless that Reagan was a good president.

Some of Goldwater’s statements in the 1990s alienated many social conservatives. He endorsed Democrat Karan English in an Arizona congressional race, urged Republicans to lay off Bill Clinton over the Whitewater scandal, and criticized the military’s ban on homosexuals:[91] He said that “Everyone knows that gays have served honorably in the military since at least the time of Julius Caesar”[98] and that “You don’t need to be ‘straight’ to fight and die for your country. You just need to shoot straight.”[99] A few years before his death he addressed establishment Republicans by saying, “Do not associate my name with anything you do. You are extremists, and you’ve hurt the Republican party much more than the Democrats have.”[100]

In the Arizona senate, English developed a reputation as a liberal on fiscal, social and environmental issues.

Despite being heavily outspent during her campaign, English won her 1992 General Election race against Republican Doug Wead after being endorsed by former U.S. Senator Barry Goldwater. Goldwater said he thought Wead was out of touch with Arizona because of his relatively brief residency in the state — two years to English’s 22. Wead countered that Goldwater’s support of abortion rights spurred the unexpected crossing of party lines....

...After serving a single term in Congress, English was defeated by Republican challenger J.D. Hayworth in 1994.

She is now involved with the Center for Sustainable Environments at Northern Arizona University.

Goldwater, influenced by his wife Margaret (Peggy) Goldwater, supported women’s rights to abortions. Goldwater’s advocacy and support for reproductive rights assisted in the foundation of the Planned Parenthood chapter in Phoenix, Arizona, and for national policies promoting birth control and abortion rights.

Back in 1937, his wife Peggy had become a founding member of Planned Parenthood of Arizona, and the couple remained active in the organization throughout Goldwater’s Senate career. Though he initially rejected Planned Parenthood’s position on abortion, his long association with the group would ultimately make a convert of him, also as he personally approved of his daughter Joanne’s illegal abortion in 1955, as recounted in the HBO documentary Mr. Conservative.

When she was in her 30s, Peggy Goldwater met Margaret Sanger and became part of a small group organizing Phoenix’s first birth control clinic, called the Mothers’ Health Clinic. Mrs. Goldwater developed a very strong commitment to the birth control movement which continued throughout her life. When she died in 1985, the Planned Parenthood Press (Planned Parenthood Arizona’s newsletter), lauded her for her commitment to contraceptive access and developed an award in her honor.

Goldwater wasn’t all he was cracked up to be.

I seriously doubt that Goldwater would approve of the Flake.

I was more disgusted than surprised by Condi Rice fundraising for that POS NeverTrumper Flake.

Condi used to be my heroine, until she went to the NeverTrumper dark side.

.
Goldwater had serious dementia before he left politics.

As for “Iran-Contra,” real Americans knew it was a very inovative way of getting around a Marxist/socialist congress to fund a very necessary war in central America.

Hoo=-Rah Ron Reagan!

P.S. If you read Terry Reed's “Compromised” you know he concurred.
