If it was me and I was in charge in Barcelona I would delete every record and financial transaction, from property taxes to traffic tickets, and let Madrid clean up the mess.

And how exactly would they do that? House to house searches? If word got out that the Catalan government had destroyed all of the records you don't think sympathetic citizens would follow suit? It would be chaos.

This movement should be watched and should stir all Texans into thinking freedom from the ties to Washington and the money it steals from us every year to give away to the remaining 49 biotches that make up the US and countries that want to kill us.

All of these upheavals have a Green/Red connection and is/will be playing out. Putin and Iran are working hand in hand to spread mayhem across countries with Islam and Communism. This includes the US where the Communist party is now an in your face party openly displaying its attempt to take over America and its players, example; McCain being turned while lounging in hotel accommodations in North Vietnam, Hillary Clinton selling Uranium to Russia.

Check the religion demographics of Catalonia. Muslims, as per 2014 account for only 7% of Catalonia’s population. Those professing agnosticism or atheism each account for a greater segment of the population. Combined these two segments total a bit more than 30%. One can guess that forms the socialist core element. Catholics remain in the majority.

Granted that 7% muslim is 8% too much, the adult voting population is a fraction of that 7%, so more likely less of a factor in the move to independence than other groups by a significant margin.

France always cooperated with Spain in suppressing the Basque movement, as it crossed the border - and France would give up no territory to them.

When these two groups (Basques and Catalans) supported the leftist government in the 1930s against the coup, they did so on condition they receive greater autonomy/eventual independence. The problem was that this led them to focus on their own little worlds instead of the larger effort, and the army was able to crush them - especially the Basque territory, where the rabid anti-clericalism hadn’t taken root. Basques lost their stomach for the war quickly because they saw the mass killings of clergy in Catalonia and Madrid; they’d kept their faith, and wanted no part of that.

We must not turn our backs to minority Muslim sources as they IF radicalized ARE historically instigators of chaos/mayhem in order to achieve their goals no matter what miniscule percentage of a populace they are. It’s their Mosque training from birth.
