N. Korean Soldiers and Family Members Exposed to Radiation Treated at a Hospital in North Hwanghae Province

2017/11/01 09:53

Asahi Reports ... "N. Korea is moving mobile launchers around every day since mid-October"

(Tokyo=Yonhap News) Kim Jung-sun = North Korea is treating soldiers exposed to radiation in past nuclear tests at a hospital near Pyongyang, the Asahi Shimbun of Japan reported from Seoul on Nov. 1.

The newspaper said, "Treatment on radiation exposure is being carried out at a military hospital at Joong-hwa Countty, North Hwanghae Province, near Pyongyang." It is revealed that soldiers and their families who were working at the Punggyeri test site, which is closed to public, are being treated. "

The newspaper added that a North Korean military regiment is stationed at the test site for excavation of tunnels for tests and perimeter security.

In another report the Asahi Shimbun filed from Seoul, N. Korea has been repeatedly moving multiple mobile launchers with ballistic missiles almost daily since the middle of last month, saying, "S. Korea, U.S., and Japan are stepping up their watch, since North Korea could do a surprise (missile) launch."

The newspaper said, "US intelligence satellites are tracking the movements of multiple mobile launchers on land. There is no indication that missile launch is imminent, such as erecting a launcher. They are just moving the vehicles."

The type of (on-board) missiles is not specifically known, but the newspaper said it could be a medium-range ballistic missile called 'Hwaseong 12', an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) 'Hwaseong 14', or an improved ICBM.

The newspaper quoted a source as saying that China had pressed North Korea to refrain from making military provocation until after the election of a new leadership at the 19th Communist Party National Convention." It added, "On November 25, China's new leadership was elected, and it could be said that the possibility of N. Korean provocation went up, relatively speaking. "
