Yea, I’m pretty much at the point that if a violent rape doesn’t happen (or is not at least attempted) with a police report at the time, or unless there’s video/audio to prove the woman’s claims, she’ll have a tough job wringing any damages out of me on a jury.

Just way too many fake claims for me to believe a damn thing these days. Look at Steinen’s daughter, Lisa Bloom. She had a pot of money and was trying to pay off Weinstien’s accusers with it (at least at the beginning). Then look at Trump, a bunch of women come forward at the last minute and ‘claim’ he harassed him...whose to say some billionaire hedge fund guy didn’t pay them millions to make the claim?

Nope...sorry, too much of this crap for me. I won’t be a part of this new cottage industry.

“If I were an employer, I would seriously consider not hiring both men and women.”

A friend of mine works at a small tech company and they were told by their lawyers, in no uncertain terms, that the moment you hire your first woman, you will have lawsuits - SO DO NOT HIRE ANY WOMEN.

The company was small enough to not be bothered by big brother, so they could pull this off. The reason for the warning was the behavior of the guys...not exactly professional (LOL).

“hope you had a good Holiday”

LOL - with me, about the only people I know who WILL NOT get triggered by Merry Christmas are black women from the South. So it’s Merry Christmas for them, happy holidays for the rest.

“All these articles and accusations have me seriously re-thinking whether or not I want to “risk” that all dating again and trying to find a companion for the rest of my life.”

I’d recommend going overseas in your situation to find someone...much better odds than anything possible here.

That's true. I'm in a Senior Leadership role for a large multi-national bank in Information Technology. The things HR will tell us "off the record" are really quite something. BTW due to the "laws" in this country, HR here in the U.S. can't tell us those things, but H.R. in Europe and Asia can.

There's ways around everything.

“Keep in mind that we live in a world where more than a few men are so clueless about how to talk to women that they think sending a picture of their crotch to a woman they barely know will somehow lead to sex “.

Even here the example doesn't hold up.

We had a lady at work, an attractive lady about 35 years old who received a picture like the one described from an unknown man who saw her on Facebook. Straight to bed without hesitation.

They are married now.

Sheesh.

I looked (briefly...) into one of the "matchmaker" services for that. Cost wasn't the issue. The issue was most of the women they wanted to pair me with were in their mid 30's.

I'm sorry but anyone young enough to be my daughter I want nothing to do with. Sure, they're nice "eye candy" but they're immature, focused on money, possessions, and what they're going to get out of the "deal." Just not interested even with a pre-nup.

I'll take someone more my age, has their own life together, is financially stable in their own right (those are few and far between, let me tell you!) and isn't carrying around a shit ton of baggage from past relationships.

Oh wait, that's impossible. Screw it. I'm staying a bachelor.

You mean that method actually works?!

I have an old friend from high school who is a retired Marine colonel. He's been married four times, all unsuccessfully. Mostly he blames it on being in the Marines and not being home a lot.

But he told me one of his ex-wives used to beat up on him when she got angry. She knew that he could do nothing about it.

A Marine is not going to go to his commanding officer or law enforcement and complain about his wife beating on him. He was damned if he did and damned if he didn't.

He would be laughed out of the Marines if he said anything so he put up with it and eventually got a divorce.

He learned after four tries that marriage wasn't for him. But damn, he has some good looking girlfriends now.

Yep. At least this time it did.

I was stunned.

Know your target.

It would have been better if he had stayed a bachelor. Just because a man is single does not mean he is a homo. (I refuse to use the word “Gay” because the original meaning of the word was happy and fags are anything but.

Well, no one mentioned anything about being gay. Just that he wasn't very good at picking the right gals to marry. He was better at picking good looking women than he was at judging their character.

But for what it's worth, I still refer to "gays" as queer because that is what I learned growing up. There was no worse thing to call a guy in high school than to refer to him as queer bait.

Do not attempt to interact with females in the workplace. Treat them like you would a robot.

That will not protect you either. I had a woman working in our office and I recognized right away she was emotionally unstable, no sense of hummer and just pissed at the world.

I generally did not have to interact with her which was fine with me as I believed talking to her would be problematic at best. So I just avoided her whenever I could.

After about a month her supervisor came into my office and informed me that she was talking about filing an EEO case against me. I said FOR WHAT?

She told him that I was treating her differently than the other girls in the office (the non-crazy ones) and that was discriminatory.

I said, let the wackjob file. She never did, she was just trying to manipulate the system and me through threats and intimidation.

I side with whichever person is being honest and reasonable. (sometimes that is neither!)

Crotch picture: stupid and boorish, but not the end of the world and probably not worth complaining about unless it’s part of a bigger picture. Let the dolt know that you are not interested, that you have a record of his behavior and that you will not tolerate it or any further harassment. Keep the email/text and keep your response. Be sure you aren’t sending him mixed signals. Make sure someone else knows about it in case it’s the first of a series of harassing events.

Repeated crotch pictures: definitely harassment. The guy did not just make one stupid mistake. He is stalking the woman. Take appropriate action including legal action.

Great common sense article.

Hope neither one of them is under the mistaken impression that the other won’t continue in their behavior.

The title IX rape tribunals on college campuses are quite close to the HR investigations in the workplace that have gone on for years.

How do you know for sure who is being honest? You don’t, so a line has to be drawn somewhere. I’m thinking it’s reasonable to draw it at texted crotch shots. If two people want to do that, I won’t bother them, but I do think it’s weird.

I only know my own motives so I speak for myself here. I’m nice to everyone. I smile at everyone. I kid around with everyone.

The taking things the wrong way goes for both sides. I don’t take kindness or kidding the wrong way from a man, but I’ve experienced a man taking my kindness for something else. That’s easy to deal with, and can also be done nicely and without involving the company’s HR department or the authorities.

That said, I do take aggressiveness the wrong way. If some dude sends me a pic of his crotch because I was nice to him, I won’t depend on someone counseling me that he’s harmless. No, he’ll get something he wasn’t expecting.

Yea you list was getting shorter and shorter. I agree, even the women that seemingly have their act together in their 50s were likely screwing around like rabbits in college and after.

I work with quite a few women. It’s almost impossible to work on tasks with them, year after year, without getting to know them a little. Some are more talkative than others, but I use a general rule when dealing with them. If I like working with them at all, I think of them as a sister and conduct myself in the way I’d want my sisters to be treated. It’s worked so far. The obvious crazies (that is to say “lefties”) I avoid, and am guarded whenever we have to interact. Pleasant, but cautious. While I have never harassed a woman in my workplace, or at least have never had such a thing implied by anyone, I have been propositioned several times. It’s an uncomfortable thing, but easily handled without hurting any feelings. Reminds me of the scene in the movie “As good as it gets” with Jack Nicholson responding to his gay neighbor’s “I love you”. Where he says “Well, buddy, if that did it for me I’d be the luckiest man alive”. You just lend a little flattery, like by saying how any guy would love to hear that, but I’m taken or involved with someone else. Best of luck.. It works.
