To: Tolerance Sucks Rocks

Driven the old bridge many times and yes it is past time to replace it but $1.2 billion (that’s BILLION with a B) gonna be afew pockets lined quite nicely I presume!!!

I live just outside the QC's and I remember when there was only the single span-one lane each way. Even as a kid I remember thinking that it was too narrow, but even then, it worked

This is the first time that I've paid any attention to the specifics of the new bridge. You mention the cost, but look at all of the happy horsechit they are incorporating in this thing...:

14 foot pedestrian/bike lane

center section of a glass roadway (so you can see the river?)

and the killer...the whole dam thing is made of stainless steel.

It doesn't take long when you're throwing these kind of "extras" around to get to a $billion.

You gotta ask how much fluff are you willing to pay for.

You can tell that this is going to be a "federal money hole".

I believe that price tag includes a stretch of freeway on each end, too.
