found 20 attacks that used guns that would have been illegal under the assault weapons ban that was in place The AWB didn't make any "attacks" "illegal" that weren't already illegal. It didn't address "attacks"; it tried to ban hardware.

My favorite was the Remington 870 pump shotgun with a pistol grip instead of the normal stock. Of course it was painted in black as well...

You’d expect some of the shootings with a rifle to be with an “AR variant” since it’s the more popular of the two main types of ‘ordinary rifle’.
