President Donald Trump met with Japanese Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko on Monday, sharing a brief handshake eight years after his predecessor became a global laughingstock by bowing deeply before the monarch. Visiting with the emperor and empress is routine for heads of state visiting Tokyo, and Trump did his part a few hours before a joint press conference with Prime Minster Shinzo Abe, who wields more power than the aging figurehead. Trump nodded his head slightly, but did not bend at the waist. An administration official traveling with Trump on his Far East tour told DailyMail.com that bowing is 'not his style – never has been.'

I give Obozo a pass on this bow because in Japan, bowing is mutual and there is a protocol or etiquette to it.
A slight bow, almost a nod is the way people greet in Japan. 0bama did a subservient bow (most likely told to do that by his ignorant staff).

On the flip side - the guy who has that 'tradition of respect" is still standing upright to Obozo's bow.....at least in the picture.
Were it an isolated incident I might be inclined to agree.
The man was a buffoon.
He was bowing to a number of people. It wasn’t called for.
It was the ultimate insult on our behalf. He saw our nation as inferior to others.
You are assuming he knew what the exact protocol was. I’m not convinced of that, with the hand-picked folks he had around him.

Maybe the Japanese emperor doesn’t bow to anyone, but Japanese commoners do.

0bama just bows in public. Privately he prefers to kneel and bob.

In fact, he's wearing the same suit in both photos. lol
Maybe as an Indonesian, Obama meant to signify his belief that the East Indies should be under Japanese sovereignty.
