The beauty of Election Day is that no one has any idea whats happening, Sure, people are voting, but for whom? As much as political pros analyze the electorate, they are basically clueless until voting stops at 8 p.m.
So, small signs are important, or at least they seem to be.
One such sign is turnout. And as voting began in Morris County this morning, turnout was surprisingly strong.
It almost seems like a presidential election, is how one worker described the scene at a polling place in the Roxbury Township Library. Across town, a poll worker said the morning brought forth a steady stream of voters. This was also true elsewhere in the county.
State Sen. Joseph Pennacchio, R-26th Dist., said that when he voted at 9 a.m. in Montville, he was number 142. That, he said, was pretty good for three hours of voting. All of this is in contrast to predictions of an abysmally-low turnout today.
This may be a small sample, but it gives hope to Kim Guadagnos chances of staging a dramatic come from behind win. Down by double-digits in every public poll, she needs a big win in a GOP stronghold like Morris to have any hope of victory later tonight.

Northam is toast. You heard it here first.

Voting on my way home. I didn’t get out of the house early enough today. I live in a pretty red county so we’ll see if what Morris is apparently feeling translates to me.
But it’s Hudson, Essex and Camden that worry me.
Republicans were stupid to nominate a female in NJ. A strong male figure like Trump or Christie would be leading comfortably, instead of trailing badly.
Rain the Lord’s benediction on this election day.
“But its Hudson, Essex and Camden that worry me.”
Weather forecast in Jersey today?
That’s because we pay 15k plus in property taxes and are losing that deduction. Even the Dems are watching their pocket book.
It’s raining on Northam’s parade.
Kim will get Sussex County, of course.
Even many Democrats in New Jersey know that there’s something highly dysfunctional about a state where sound retirement planning is built on a strategy for getting the hell out as soon as you retire.
She wouldn’t endorse Trump.
Nice chilly rain in Northern VA ... Let’s hope the POC don’t turn out for the other guy ...
From about 6-9PM it’s supposed to be raining. It’s already pretty dark here.
LOL! I have a FB friend from NJ and thats all she talks about...well, she talks about it a lot.
Common sense tells you that Demonrats will fare poorly on any cold, rainy, election day.
The welfare leeches they depend on to vote aren’t going to stand in the cold rain at the bus stop to vote for white people that they hate.
The Republicans in the burbs have nice heated SUVs to drive to the polls.
Actually I made this prediction back after the latino ad came out... that ad was the GIFT that Gillespie needed... it would do for him the one thing he could never do on his own... Motivate the new MAGA voters to show up and vote for him....
Before that, this race IMHO was a D hold, but a slight one.. 1-3 points... I expect the R to win by 2-4 at this point.
Time will tell.
