I think Phil Murphy is going to disappoint a lot of Democrats in this state. He's an avowed leftist, but he's also a Wall Street guy who recognizes that New Jersey is now in a position where leftist politics is clashing with fiscal (and physical) reality.

Remember -- this is a state where the legislature had to draft a mid-year budget adjustment in 2015 when one taxpayer (hedge fund billionaire David Tepper) had moved to Florida because of the ridiculous tax burden in New Jersey. It was estimated that he paid something like $100 million in state income taxes the prior year.

First of all, a congressman supporting the tax bill had zero to do with this. Second, Murphy is an idiotic liberal and he is not going to “disappoint” leftists. He is every bit as much a leftist as DeBlasio. Finally, the gubernatorial results were in no way a surprise.
