The effects of climate change, such as droughts, wild-fires and extreme weather are a particular concern for those living in countries where people cannot afford to protect themselves against such disasters.
Globally, 70% of the damage caused by climate change events, and 98% in developing countries, doesnt get compensated unless the government steps in, delegates heard at the 23rd Conference of the Parties (COP23) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), which is taking place in Bonn, Germany.
Climate risk insurance which provides financial compensation for people following climate-related disasters could be a powerful tool to build resilience to global warming trends, but financial concerns are holding up progress.
These concerns were raised by experts at an official side-event organised by the Imperial College London delegation at COP23.
Climate change is already affecting peoples lives worldwide, and are predicted to worsen as greenhouse gases from human activities cause further global warming.
By looking at the changing distribution of different weather parameters, such as temperature or precipitation, we know that, as a result of climate change, some weather extremes are becoming more frequent, said Professor Joanna Haigh, co-director of the GrantWanker Institute Climate Change and the Environment, Imperials Global Institute addressing the challenges of global warming and environmental change.

“UNFCCC?”
You’ve got to be kidding! The UN couldn’t “UNFCCC” anything if it tried!
Well then - maybe China and India - the world’s LARGEST polluters should do something to save their “developing” peoples...
Climate Risk Insurance? lol! Who would write a policy for something as nebulous as that?
There does seem to be a lot of wanking going on
And 50% of all statistics are made up.
Just say no to Global Warming Extortion.
Algore became very rich promoting the Greater Fool Theory.
I am obviously late to this idea. I think it's a great idea. In fact. I need investors. I am going to sell global warming insurance. Premiums at $500/year?
I will, they only get a settlement after the world ends.
This is a microcosm of the whole anthropogenic global warming argument.
Assume “facts” not in evidence.
Build on that.
There is no evidence that wild fires, droughts, or “extreme events” are caused by climate change.
It is a sort of truism, in the sense that the climate has always been changing, and these events have always occurred.
The argument essentially is a non-sequitur:
The climate is changing, therefore wildfires, droughts, and extreme events are caused by climate change.
What company would write, and what person would pay for a “climate change loss policy.” There would be claims (and matching exclusions) for every weather event, and every geophysical accident (earthquakes, extra-high tides, floods, etc.)
...and there it is!
Follow the money trail.
insurance companies are making a killing off of the Global Warming Scam , I did an insurance survey and Global Warming questions were everywhere
I like the idea of selling a policy which pays out if the global temperature rises more than 2 degrees above "what it's supposed to be".
Easy way to get rich.
Don’t tell anyone. Keep it a secret. In fact, we can make it up to a $1,000,000 policy regardless of net worth as long as the premium is paid up. We can make it a 100 year term policy.
It would be a great way to redistribute wealth from liberals to smart people.
There in lies the beauty of Climate Change Insurance. If the stipulations are 1) Average Global temperature has to increase by 2 degrees F and 2) Claimant must prove loss is directly associated with said 2 degree average global temperature increase.....
You could collect premiums until you die and be assured to never have to pay out. Only liberals would buy this policy. Moohahaaaa!
I kind of like it. But liberals will insist that other people pay the premiums.
These glo-bull warming believers just don’t give up. Too much money involved I guess.
“By looking at the changing distribution of different weather parameters, such as temperature or precipitation, we know that, as a result of climate change, some weather extremes are becoming more frequent,”
and what exactly is the proof that these supposedly more frequent weather extremes are actually CAUSED by “climate change”? I’s love to see the direct cause and effect proof.
