If McConnell did it, it would have been done during the primary, knocking out Moore in favor of Strange. One Republican out, a different one, more to McConnell's liking, in.

McConnell wants to remain Majority Leader. For that to happen, he needs the majority of the Senate to be Republican.

No one expected Moore to win the runoff or the primary.. The swamp got blind sided..
