A day after explosive allegations of sexual assault surfaced against Alabama senate candidate Roy Moore, the Republican Party’s senate campaign arm has severed financial ties with the embattled former state supreme court justice.
A joint fundraising committee benefitting Moore and a handful of Republican Party organs filed paperwork with the Federal Election Commission on Friday removing the National Republican Senatorial Committee as one of its beneficiaries. Going forward, the committee’s fundraising will benefit Moore’s Senate campaign, the Alabama Republican Party, and the Republican National Committee but not the NRSC.
The NRSC’s removal from the account is the most concrete step taken to date to create distance between the national Republican Party and the Moore campaign. Other lawmakers have called on Moore to leave the race. But most have said he should do so only if the accusations are proven true. These condemnations have all come in the aftermath of the Washington Post report detailing how Moore, decades ago, had sexually assaulted a 14 year old girl and propositioned three other female minors. The Post quoted four women on the record and had 30 sources in total. The Moore campaign has denied the charges.
The RNC and the NRSC did not respond to requests for comment.

I listened to Michael Berry yesterday and he made an impassioned argument that this entire scandal was manufactured by the GOP. I tend to agree. The statements by politicians (McCain, Twit Romney) denouncing Moore and then this move all seem so methodical, as if it were following a carefully written script.
This is the liberal Republican’s revenge on us, the conservative voter. If they can’t have the seat, they’ll see to it we won’t either.
Never give money to the GOP!! NEVER. only MAGA candidates direct. Don’t be stupidly duped out of you money to be used against conservatives.
The GOP must be pretty damn sure that Moore is guilty as charged. Because if it turns out he is innocent.....
They see their “excuse” to actively deep-six a real conservative - looks like we may very well lose our “majorities” next year and they will moan and make noises but will party behind closed doors....
If he’s elected, he will owe absolutely nothing to the RINOS AND GOPe in the Senate. He could tell McConell to GTH and don’t come back.................
