Schola Cantorum Silicon Valley has scheduled a patriotic sing-along, “Our United States,” 3 p.m. Nov. 19 at Los Altos United Methodist Church, 566 Magdalena Ave.

According to Dawn Reyen, the choral group’s assistant conductor and leader of the sing-along, the event “honors veterans and our country with patriotic tunes and songs about places in America.” No singing experience is necessary; the words will be projected on a screen so that participants can follow along.

Songs will include “America the Beautiful,” “Deep in the Heart of Texas,” “New York, New York” and “This Land Is Your Land.” Schola Cantorum hosts sing-alongs all year. Its annual Messiah Sing is scheduled Dec. 18.

The "Schola Cantorum" is a fantastic amateur choral group that does regular sing-alongs.

Of special note is this Patriotic Sing-Along in the heart of California's Silicon Valley.

Before the snide anti-California remarks start, let me make clear that, no, "The Internationale" is NOT on the playlist.

i am thrilled to find this item posted here. My wife and I sing in this organization. Dawn Reyen, who leads the singalong, is a marvelous pianist and runs wonderful singalongs. This will be a most enjoyable event.
