“After a nuclear exchange between China and the US it would likely take nearly 100 years to recover for both countries”

China has a total of 300 nukes, many of which cannot be delivered to the US.

The US has over 1,500 strategic nukes (and a few thousand tactical nukes) that could be delivered on a moments notice. All of our strategic nukes are accurate enough to provide a nuclear counter-force strike, ensuring a large number of the Chinese nukes that would otherwise be capable of reaching the US would never get off the ground.

Yeah, we’d take a few hits and it would be awful.

But otherwise, NO CONTEST. And the Chinese know it.

We would survive. China would not.

And I’m pretty sure the Russians don’t want a piece of that action either.

Don’t know and don’t care.

After a nuclear exchange between China and the US it would likely take nearly 100 years to recover for both countries...

Your responses support my view. An unprovoked launch against China triggered by one of its out of control agents would be insane given there are more sensible and responsible reactions.

Not credible.

That's what I was thinking too.

Then China better get control over “one of its out of control agents”.

I shoot the puppeteer, but then he wouldn’t have an unknown number of guns pointed at each of my family member’s head.

Why wouldn’t you just give the puppeteer your weapon?

They have one bomb. We will make the extinct GUARANTEED.

And the US doesn't need nuclear weapons to do so!

As an axiom, I say if something is simply too outrageous and stupid to be true...then it probably isn’t.

The notion that the US does not have strategic reserves of major power system parts like large transformers is almost certainly false.

The idea that certain allied powers seem able to somehow shut down enemy radars and other assets because they are just great programmers is nonsense.

We are inside the microchips. We have been for some time now. We excel at this. The NSA has it’s own silicon foundry and is capable of replacing critical systems chips with theirs at any foundry on the planet...or while devices are in transit.

We don’t somehow spoof their electronic systems, we have a little chat with them via RF.

We know where all their stuff is physically located because the IC’s send out extremely weak and slow data to our NRO birds in geo orbit...sort of like Ham Radio WSPR tech but orders of magnitude better.

We know instantly if a critical piece of military hardware is turned on in the US using the same system and we can make it malfunction if need be.

US intelligence knows where virtually all foreign military assets are located at any time....we use automation to drive very sophisticated systems to watch everything.

If there is a mobile ICBM platform in the woods in NK we know where it is.

If a US operative is stuck in the middle of nowhere and needs help all he needs to communicate to home base is a stick and a clear patch of ground. If you carefully map out a pattern and then gouge the design into the dirt a few inches it creates an IR pattern that is easily picked up by satellites that scan the surface using pattern-recognition software. When the pattern is detected a burst of green laser light is beamed down to the guy on the ground to let him know help is coming. Basic 2-way comms is possible by laying flat in the pattern and using arm/leg movements to send data and get a return from the laser. The laser is green since the eye has most sensitivity at that freq, the laser is several watts in power and very well collimated and not visible a few hundred ft from the ground target.

The Gulf Cooperation Council has been funneling large sums of cash to Israel to create advance weaponry for a showdown with Iran. Israels new ability to see into buried tunnels has come from this...also new and more advanced ballistic interceptors. On the surface it appears that Qatar has been furnishing Hezbolah/Iran with advanced, networked missiles and comms systems to make them work. This gear is all useless because it all has an OFF switch....flip—> no working missile systems. The showdown with Iran fast approaches.

Interesting tidbit: Grab any smartphone, dial a specific, long # and send it. The phone will in seconds have a software update injected that will program the SDR inside to move it out of band for 2-way comms with the geo orbit NRO sats. encrypted Audio/video are now linked back down to langley. The phone has a mere 600mw but that delivers an enormous signal to the large dishs on the NRO sats. This is the high-tech spook version of having a hand-held aviation band radio with you. Put it on 121.5 or 243 mhz and you have sat comms from anyplace on the planet for rescue/emergency.

The helmet cams worn by special forces can link video/audio using the same NRO sats right to the situation room in the WH.

This is all well known, old tech now. Not a loose lips thing.

The sabotaged Qutari mil systems rumor has been floating for weeks but sure seems likely.

Hopefully our military asses have been hardened against an EMP attack. The attack wouldn't even have to be by ICBM, but a couple of SCUDs. If not hardened, only our overseas assets would be available to retaliate.

William R. Forstchen’s “One Second After” gives a good renditions of what would happen to us if an EMP attack the US occurs.

All civilian assets that run on electricity would be fried, thus affecting all automobiles manufactured since the 80’s, and our entire electrical grid.

What would happen to the Chinese leaders?

Dead Chinese leaders receive no benefits.

And all their neighbors would like a piece of China.

You’ve blown a gasket.

When you can deal with reality nukes vs guns, and rogue nations vs one puppeteer, get back to me.

Doughty, perhaps you should change your screen name.

What does North Korea gain by messing with us?

What does China gain by having North Korea mess with us?

Look to see who benefits.

It’s China.

And they share a border with North Korea.

And they fought with North Korea against us.

You’ve dropped a transmission.

We’re not going to chose off on a nation with hundreds of nukes. If you can’t grasp that, don’t talk to me.

Each of us is pretty damned sure China is behind North Korea. None the less China has had nukes for over 40 years, and they haven’t fired them at us, or threatened to do so any day now. Their leadership is neither borderline mental or suicidal.

We have a rogue nation, North Korea that has made serious threats. That we can still probably control.

That is where the focus is, and for a damned good reason.

Without North Korea, China is right back where it started from, having nukes but unable to use them for fear of retaliation.

and yet our military can still be ambushed in Niger and Yemen without war...I’m not sure the tech works as well as all that..
