Doesn’t make sense that the assistant would imitate the judge’s signature and leave her initials. My guess is that the signature on the divorce document is a stamp.

That was a stamp and that is the traditional way it is done especially in the legal world. The initials indicate it was not only a stamp but it was also authorized by the person whose signature was on the stamp and the initials of the person who used the stamp.
